Who Is This Girl?

"This Girl" is a sci-fi, period drama, political drama, and detective drama enthusiast. In the real world, she is a veterinary technician who plans to earn her Bachelor's in Veterinary Nursing in the UK (and remain permanently, visas permitting). Future career plans include specialization in emergency/critical care & trauma. (Or dentistry, because my dentistry teacher was/is a saucy minx who likes making me fall in love with unexpected things.)

Favorite Television Shows: The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Call the Midwife, Parade's End, All Star Treks, Sherlock, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Major Crimes, Sanctuary, Stargate: SG-1, The West Wing, The Closer, Glee, Castle, NCIS, Law & Order: Trial By Jury.

Favorite Actors: Sharon Small (oh, God, Sharon...), Mary McDonnell, Jenny Agutter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Laura Main, Amanda Tapping, Catherine Tate, Elisabeth Sladen, Stephen McGann, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Alex Kingston, Jeff Daniels, Martin Freeman, Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett, Emily Mortimer, Nana Visitor, Meryl Streep, Cherry Jones, Patrick Stewart, Nathan Fillion, William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, Olivia Munn, etc.

Favorite Books: Pride and Prejudice, Parade's End, Honor Harrington, Heralds of Valdemar, Harry Potter, The Belgariad/Malloreon, The Elenium/Tamuli, The Sunne in Splendour, The Mists of Avalon, Temeraire, Aubrey-Maturin, and others.

Hobbies/Interests: Horseback riding, reading, Internet, writing, history, biology, veterinary medicine, microbiology, surgery, veterinary dentistry, theatre, etc.

Favorite Characters:
Inspector Lynley: Barbara Havers is the love of my life, and I adore her beyond all reason.
Call the Midwife: Sister Bernadette, Sister Julienne, and Dr Turner.
Star Trek: Kira Nerys, Beverly Crusher, Jim Kirk, Leonard McCoy, Jean-Luc Picard, Kathryn Janeway, Tom Paris, Malcolm Reed, Jonathan Archer.
Sherlock: I am John Watson's girl, now and always. (But I adore Sherlock, too. I can has threesome?) Also Mycroft.
Stargate: Janet Fraiser, Samantha Carter, Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Jack O'Neill.
Babylon 5: Susan Ivanova, John Sheridan, Delenn, Jeffrey Sinclair, Catherine Sakai, Elizabeth Lochley.
Doctor Who: RIVER SONG. Eleven, Ten, Donna, Jack, Sarah Jane, Rory, Nine, Amy, Martha, Harriet Jones, Rose...
The Closer/Major Crimes: Sharon Raydor, Brenda Leigh Johnson, Rusty Beck, Andy Flynn, Andrea Hobbs.
The Newsroom: Will McAvoy, Mackenzie McHale, Sloan Sabbith, Don Keefer, Neal Sampat.

So why do you want to move to the UK so badly, anyway? Because the opportunities to study and practice vet nursing at degree level in the United States suck. And by "suck" I mean "do not exist". Also, the UK also has coherent, nation-wide regulation of veterinary nurses, which the US oh so very much does not.

Any questions? Post 'em in the comments!

Oaky, I'm sucking it up and finally posting and friending you. Thank you for your marvelous Lynley/Havers fic. After falling in love with the series, I found your fic, which made me love it all the more. And the more I love it, the more I'm happily hunting down Sharon Small's other work (she's amazing in Glasgow Kiss and I can see why, as attractive as she is in that series, the producers hired her to play Havers.

And the beauty of Lynley and Havers is that I'm writing again! Yes, the husband is point out I have a novel I need to prep for a conference this summer, but the words are coming quickly, so I'm not complaining. Now, if I could just get a single piece done and not just scenes all over the place, I could post something.

...still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I'm apparently now a bit of a Lynley/Havers celebrity, tbh. :D

Thank you so much for your kind words! My fic is basically an outpouring of fannish devotion that's lasted far longer than I ever expected a fandom obsession to last, and I blame it entirely on Sharon Small and her phenomenal Barbara Havers. I don't think I've ever seen a character as fully real or three-dimensional as Barbara, and I doubt I ever will again. She's just... she's just perfect.

I'm so glad you're writing again! It's a small fandom, to be sure, but I've gotten so much love from unexpected sources writing for these two, and I hope you have the same experience. And All the Stars Burned Bright - aka The Star Trek AU Of Doom - started out as fic fragments that eventually knit themselves into an actual plot, so don't be afraid of them! :D

Haha, yes, Glasgow Kiss is so very amazing, I just can't even. I almost cried when I was able to get my hands on that show.

Anyway, welcome to the madhouse, and I hope you enjoy your stay. :D
